According to MRA Lahore, Rao Shakeel ur Rehman, the staff posted on new registration has been assigned particular duties for disposal of objection files, verification of papers separately for local as well as imported vehicles so as to check the pendency of work and hold accountable to negligent officials.
Likewise the number of windows for new registration of motor cars and motorbikes has been increased by providing separate rooms for the staff of each category of vehicles for smooth disposal of work and convenience to the general public.
Moreover out of order printers have been repaired and made functional to ensure issuance of computer generated receipts to the motoring public.
In order to discourage the entry of unauthorised persons into motor branch hall, a weekly duty roaster has been prepared on day to day basis amongst excise and taxation inspectors and constables to keep close vigilance on entry points.
Similarly separate staff has been deputed for the delivery of registration certificates along with original files by maintaining the registers for each series. The functioning of reception counter in the E&T office has been made more meaningful for motoring public.
According to Rao Shakeel, such steps have gone a long way to bring about a visible positive change in the system as compared to the past. "We are making continued efforts to make all such arrangements foolproof in order to come up to the expectation of the higher authorities."
